The Far West region of NSW is home to a diverse array of Aboriginal cultural groups.

Broken Hill itself is situated on the traditional lands of the Wilyakali people, while other areas are home to several other groups, including the Malyangapa, Paakantyi (Barkindji), Pantyikali, Thangkaali and Wanyuparlki peoples.

Each of these groups have their own rich culture, including religious customs, traditions, art and stories dating back tens of thousands of years. During your travels, we ask that you respect the cultures, peoples and land.

There are a multitude of places in Broken Hill and throughout the region that you can visit today to learn more about local Aboriginal heritage, history and culture. Take a look at some of our favourite, must-visit spots for experiencing and learning about Indigenous culture in the outback.
